Get well-rounded security coverage for your Arlington home or business with a brand new 360 Alarm monitoring device. Our devices can fit any home or lifestyle so you can keep living your life to the fullest. Between the watchful eyes of our 24/7 security monitoring staff and the Arlington police department, you’ll stay safe! While security monitoring is included when you start a new alarm contract with 360 Alarm, the police operate a little differently. To ensure that when your alarm goes off, emergency responders will check on you, you’ll need to fill out an alarm permit form.
Only if your alarm system is designed to summon the police. We know it’s a pain, but getting an alarm permit ensures that the police will investigate when a problem arises. You may also face fines if the police respond to an alert and you don’t have a current alarm permit.
However, it’s important to note that you don’t always need to have an alarm permit. If you install an alarm system so you can keep an eye on your property or you want smart home integrations, there’s no need. You have full rights to monitor your own home with or without an alarm permit.
Generally, this means the police won’t respond to a home invasion alert. Instead, you’ll need to call for emergency help yourself which may put you and your family in a dangerous position. The only exception is if the alarm is set off by a human and the inhabitants are at risk, in which case law enforcement would investigate. If the police do respond to a tripped alarm and discover you don’t have a permit, you’ll be in violation of an Arlington city ordinance and you will be fined.
The alarm permit is an annual cost of $50. This is a minimal cost to ensure your home and business have police protection should you ever come face to face with an intruder.
Three false alarms are included in the price of the permit. After that, you will start to accrue additional charges. The 4th and 5th false alarms will cost $50 call. The 6th and 7th have a $75 administrative fee per call. 8+ false alarms will be $100 per call.
When it’s time to renew, the City of Arlington will send you a reminder so your security coverage doesn’t lapse. At this time you will also be expected to pay the $50 fee again unless you’re over 65 or a 100% disabled veteran.
You can easily apply and pay for an alarm permit at www.arlingtonpermits.com. You can also choose to mail the permit application to the Arlington Police Department. Fill out the form and enclose a check or $50 cash (unless you’re 65+ or a fully disabled veteran. Once it’s received, it will be processed immediately and your permit will be sent to you by the next day.
